Merger Strengthens Solent Financial Firm

The successful merger between two of Hampshire’s leading firms of financial advisers has shown how collaboration can provide strength, growth and future-proofing for the clients of both businesses.

Well-known Romsey-based chartered financial adviser, Jamie Mallon, is delighted to announce the successful merger of his business, ‘Mallon Wealth Management Ltd’, as part of the expansion of one of the South’s largest financial firms, ‘Eight Wealth Management Ltd’ in Whiteley.

Jamie began his career with TSB in Southampton in 1989, undertaking qualifications, training and gaining ten years’ experience as a regulated financial advisor. Having gained his diploma from the Professional Finance Society, Jamie became Senior Wealth Manager for the South of England for Scottish Widows in 2004, and four years later was invited to set up his own business as a representative of wealth management firm ‘St. James’s Place Wealth Management’.

Over the next ten years, Jamie took further qualifications to be one of the UK’s first Chartered Planners in 2012 and passed advanced papers to become a Fellow in 2014, while Mallon Wealth Management grew to employ five other advisers with support staff, moved to offices in the heart of Romsey. It was at this point Jamie paused for thought.

‘The demands of internal operations, administration and functions such as HR and marketing, in addition to providing the highest standards of client care, were increasing rapidly. I confided in Ian Riggs, who I have been friends with since our days working at TSB together and watched his company, Eight Wealth Management, grow into an incredible enterprise, and we decided to bring my business to his. I spoke to my staff, negotiated terms and now we have the resources and structure for both us and our clients.’

‘Welcoming Jamie and his team has been fantastic,’ says Ian Riggs, founder and CEO of Eight Wealth Management which is a representative. ‘It has strengthened the service for all our clients with a whole new raft of shared experience, expertise and resources.  We have always felt the same about industry issues such as the importance of regulation, qualification and transparency, so it has been a natural fit.’

Jamie, who is now a Director of Eight Wealth Management is delighted at the smoothness of the transition. ‘The culture at Eight Wealth Management is amazing – I have never known a staff so keen to help clients and colleagues alike with pro-active endeavour and a can-do attitude. I have always thought what we do for a living is a privilege rather than a job and it has been exhilarating to join a business full of like-minded people.’
